Early Reading First
Congratulations! You have just taken the first step toward a successful Early
Reading First grant application.
Early Reading First is a bold initiative to transform existing early
education programs into preschool centers of educational excellence. The
overall purpose of the Early Reading First Program is to prepare young
children to enter kindergarten with the necessary language, cognitive, and
early reading skills for reading success, thereby preventing reading
difficulties.
We Can! is a research based, comprehensive preschool curriculum that
fully aligns with the Early Reading First grant requirements, the Head
Start Outcomes Framework, and recommendations from the National
Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). In fact, We
Can! is the preschool curriculum currently being used in several
federally funded Early Reading First and Head Start grants across
the nation.
Before you download our We Can! alignment to Early Reading First documents
