Early Reading First

Congratulations! You have just taken the first step toward a successful Early Reading First grant application.

Early Reading First is a bold initiative to transform existing early education programs into preschool centers of educational excellence. The overall purpose of the Early Reading First Program is to prepare young children to enter kindergarten with the necessary language, cognitive, and early reading skills for reading success, thereby preventing reading difficulties.

We Can! is a research based, comprehensive preschool curriculum that fully aligns with the Early Reading First grant requirements, the Head Start Outcomes Framework, and recommendations from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). In fact, We Can! is the preschool curriculum currently being used in several federally funded Early Reading First and Head Start grants across the nation.
