  • What is the Three-tier Reading Model?
  • In literacy intervention and special education circles, the phrase “Three-tier Reading Model” increasingly is being used. What exactly does it mean?

Currently the University of Texas System/Texas Education Agency is conducting research for Preventing Reading Difficulties: A Three-tier Intervention Model, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education. • “A student came to me as a non-reader in the sixth grade. I began with the LANGUAGE! ® program the second year I had him. Now he is reading at a third-to-fourth-grade level, and his comprehension is good. LANGUAGE! has made a lasting difference in his life. Thanks to LANGUAGE! he is no longer a non-reader and is reading eighth-grade material with help!”
